Soche Hill Secondary School

Soche Hill Secondary School is a secondary school in the Manje-Mpachika ward of Blantyre City, in southern Malawi. The Malawi Electoral Commission's 2025 register of centres lists Soche Hill Secondary School as a polling centre in the Manje-Mpachika ward of Blantyre City Council, within the BT City Chichiri-Misesa constituency. The only other centre the register lists in that ward is Mpachika CCAP Ground. Secondary education in Malawi runs from Form 1 to Form 4 and ends with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE), set by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB). Alongside the older conventional secondary schools, many public schools are community day secondary schools (CDSS), which grew out of the former distance-education centres converted in 1998. The school's name refers to Soche, one of the mountains that surround Blantyre together with Ndirande, Chiradzulu and Michiru; the four make up the Michiru Mountain Conservation Area. Blantyre was founded in 1876 through the missionary work of the Church of Scotland and named after the Scottish birthplace of David Livingstone. It is Malawi's centre of finance and commerce and its second-largest city, with 800,264 residents at the 2018 census.
