Our Lady of Wisdom Secondary School

Our Lady of Wisdom Secondary School is a secondary school in Limbe, Blantyre, Malawi. It stands close to Our Lady of Wisdom Cathedral, whose name it shares. Its candidates appear in public university admissions: the University of Malawi's first-year selection list for the 2025/26 academic year includes students entered from Our Lady of Wisdom Secondary. The neighbouring cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Blantyre. The archdiocese traces its origins to the Apostolic Prefecture of Shiré, established in 1903; it became the Apostolic Vicariate of Blantyre in 1952 and a metropolitan archdiocese in 1959, with Zomba, Chikwawa and Mangochi as its suffragan dioceses. Thomas Luke Msusa has been Archbishop of Blantyre since 2013. Secondary education in Malawi runs from Form 1 to Form 4 and ends with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE), set by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB). The MSCE is the qualification on which selection to the public universities is based. Limbe lies about 11 km east of central Blantyre and merged with the city in 1956. It is the operational headquarters and workshop of Malawi Railways and an industrial and trading district, home to companies such as Illovo Sugar and Malawi Pharmacies Limited.
