How verification works

A verified tick means one thing: someone proved they control the business. It is not a quality rating, a recommendation, or something you can buy.

There are two ways to prove it. We can email a six-digit code to the address already listed for the business, which takes about two minutes. Or you can upload a registration certificate or trading licence, which a person reviews.

Changing the business name, address or phone number removes the tick until it is proved again. A tick that survives a listing being silently repointed at a different business would be worthless.

Claimed and verified are different states. Claimed means someone is maintaining the page. Verified means we checked.
