Mulanje Boma CDSS

Mulanje Boma CDSS is a community day secondary school at Mulanje Boma, the headquarters of Mulanje District in southern Malawi. "Boma" is the word used in Malawi for a district's administrative centre. Community day secondary schools (CDSS) are government day schools, attended by pupils who live at home rather than board. Many grew out of the former distance-education centres, which were converted into secondary schools in 1998. Secondary education in Malawi runs from Form 1 to Form 4 and ends with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE), set by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB); pupils enter Form 1 after completing Standard 8 and sitting the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE). Mulanje lies about 69 kilometres by road south-east of Blantyre on the M2, close to the border with Mozambique, and had 14,782 residents at the 2018 census. The town is the centre of Malawi's tea-growing industry and the usual starting point for climbs on Mount Mulanje, whose Sapitwa Peak, at 3,002 metres, is the highest point in the country. The massif's upper slopes are home to the Mulanje cedar, proclaimed Malawi's national tree in 1984.
