Mitsidi ZEC Mission Secondary School

Mitsidi ZEC Mission Secondary School is a church secondary school at Mitsidi, on the outskirts of Blantyre, Malawi, run by the Zambezi Evangelical Church (ZEC). Zambesi Mission, the church's UK-based partner, describes it in its August to October 2022 prayer bulletin as "ZEC's Mitsidi Mission Secondary School", which "opened in 2015" with the objective "to provide high quality education in a Christian setting". The same bulletin gives its enrolment at that time as 380 students. Mitsidi is also the name of the ZEC's headquarters. The church grew out of the Zambezi Industrial Mission, founded in 1892 by Joseph Booth in what was then British Central Africa. After Malawi's independence in 1964, the Malawian-governed Zambezi Evangelical Church took direct control of the mission's churches and health centres, and the UK-based Zambesi Mission became a supporting partner. By 2012 the church had about 150 clergy serving more than 500 congregations with some 100,000 members. The headquarters kept the name Mitsidi after the mission had to move in 1971 to a site near the village of Sigelegi, making way for a new presidential palace. The Malawi Electoral Commission's 2025 register places Mitsidi F.P. School, a primary school of the same name, in the Chigwaja ward of the Blantyre South West constituency, Blantyre District Council. Secondary education in Malawi runs from Form 1 to Form 4 and ends with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE), set by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB). Fees, boarding arrangements, admission requirements and contact details have not been published online.
