PEP Gaborone Game City Mall

PEP Gaborone Game City Mall is a branch of PEP, the Southern African discount clothing chain, in the Game City shopping centre on Lobatse Road, Gaborone, Botswana. It trades from Shop F8. PEP sells low-priced clothing, footwear and household goods. The business was launched as PEP Stores Ltd in De Aar, South Africa, in 1965 by Renier van Rooyen, who had been running a part-time bargain shop in Upington since 1955. It is a subsidiary of the retail group Pepkor and operates around 1,800 stores across 11 countries in Southern Africa. Its South African website, pepstores.com, also sells mobile and financial services; the online shop and its collection points serve South Africa. Game City is owned by the property company Turnstar Holdings, which describes it as "the first indoor mall to be built in Botswana". Turnstar gives its size as about 70,000 square metres with some 140 shops, and names the Game store as its flagship tenant. Gaborone has been Botswana's capital since independence in 1966. Lobatse Road is the main route south out of the city towards Lobatse and the South African border. PEP does not publish stock or prices for its Botswana branches online, so it is worth phoning the store before making a special journey for a particular item.
