Legit is a fashion retail brand with a store at Airport Junction Shopping Centre, Gaborone. It trades Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 19:00, Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00, and Sunday and public holidays from 09:00 to 15:00. Legit's ownership has changed twice in recent years. It was formerly part of Edcon, the South African group behind Edgars, and was acquired by Retailability in 2016 for R637 million. Retailability went on to operate more than 460 stores across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini. On 2 November 2025 Pepkor completed a R1.7 billion acquisition of Retailability's brands, taking Legit, Swagga, Style and Boardmans and adding 469 stores to its own 979. Pepkor was founded in 1965 by Renier van Rooyen in South Africa and listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in September 2017. Its other brands include PEP, Ackermans and HiFi Corp.
