About

Msonkhamanja CCAP Church is a congregation of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in Lilongwe, Malawi. The CCAP brings together Presbyterian churches founded by three missions: the Free Church of Scotland's Livingstonia mission in the north from 1875, the Church of Scotland's Blantyre mission in the south from 1876, and the Dutch Reformed Church's Cape Synod, which began work in central Malawi in 1889 and whose field became the Nkhoma Synod. The Livingstonia and Blantyre synods united as the CCAP on 17 September 1924 and Nkhoma joined in 1926; synods in Zimbabwe (1965) and Zambia (1984) followed. In 2024 it reported more than 3.1 million members in 1,366 congregations. Lilongwe has been Malawi's capital since 1975, when it took over from Zomba. It lies on the Lilongwe River in the Central Region, and the 2018 census counted 989,318 people in the city, which is laid out in numbered Areas from 1 to 58. Service times, the name of the minister and the synod to which the congregation belongs have not been published online.
