Freemasonry in Malawi under the English constitution is administered by the District Grand Lodge of Zimbabwe and Malawi, one of the overseas districts of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE). UGLE names William R. Ferguson as District Grand Master and Marinus P. Grau as District Grand Secretary, and gives the District's address as PO Box BE 291, Belvedere, Harare, Zimbabwe. UGLE is the governing body of Freemasonry in England, Wales, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and its districts overseas. It is based at Freemasons' Hall, 60 Great Queen Street, London, and reports around 170,000 members, with 48 provinces at home and 32 districts and four groups abroad. It describes Freemasonry as "one of the oldest social and charitable organisations in the world", with the principles of integrity, friendship, respect and service. Blantyre was founded in 1876 through the missionary work of the Church of Scotland and named after the Scottish birthplace of the explorer David Livingstone. It lies in the Shire Highlands of the Southern Region and is Malawi's centre of finance and commerce and its second-largest city, with 800,264 residents at the 2018 census.
