Mahopa Community Camp

Mahopa Community Camp is a community campsite at Levis Fontein, in the far west of Botswana's North-West District (Ngamiland), close to the border with Namibia. The camp lies about 13 km west-south-west of the village of Qangwa and about 7 km east of the Namibian border. Qangwa is a small settlement near the western border, with 337 residents at the 2001 census, a primary school and a health clinic. The Aha Hills, on the border with Namibia, and the Gcwihaba (Drotsky's) Caves are among the principal tourist attractions of this part of the district. The North-West District covers 129,930 km² and had 196,574 residents at the 2022 census. Its administrative centre is Maun, far to the east on the edge of the Okavango Delta. The camp has not published its facilities, rates or opening seasons online; in so remote an area it is worth telephoning before travelling.
