Salima Post Office

Salima Post Office is a post office in Salima, the administrative centre of Salima District in the Central Region of Malawi, run by Malawi Posts Corporation (MPC), the national postal operator. MPC was established as a statutory corporation in June 2000 under the Communications Act No. 41 of 1998, when the former Malawi Posts and Telecommunications Corporation was restructured. It works under a licence from the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) and has its head office in Blantyre. The corporation states that it runs 180 post offices across the country, and a further 154 postal agencies operate under the district assemblies. Among the mail services it lists nationally are: - ordinary mail, for letters and documents at home and abroad - registered mail, with proof of delivery and the addressee's signature - the Express Mail Service (EMS), a priority door-to-door service for items of up to 20 kg Salima had 36,789 residents at the 2018 census, up from 4,646 in 1977. The town stands at about 538 metres and has a station on the Sena railway, which is operated under concession by Central East African Railways. Salima District, which had 478,346 residents in 2018, includes the Lake Malawi beach at Senga Bay, a popular weekend retreat from Lilongwe. Counter services and opening hours for the Salima branch have not been published online, so phoning ahead before travelling is advisable.
