Playdor Private Schools

Playdor Private Schools is a privately run school in Blantyre, Malawi. Malawi's school system has two main stages. Primary school runs from Standard 1 to Standard 8 and ends with the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE); secondary school runs from Form 1 to Form 4 and ends with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) sets both examinations. Government primary schools have charged no tuition since 1994, whereas private schools set their own fees. Private schools account for a sizeable part of the system. The Ministry of Education's 2023/24 Malawi Education Statistics Report counts 1,198 private primary schools out of 7,117 nationally, and 483 private secondary schools out of 1,916, with 119,423 pupils enrolled in private secondary schools. Blantyre is Malawi's centre of finance and commerce and its second-largest city, with 800,264 residents at the 2018 census. It grew from a Church of Scotland mission founded in 1876, is named after David Livingstone's birthplace in Scotland, and merged with neighbouring Limbe in 1956 to form one city.
