Mount Carmel Private School is a private school in the southern part of Lilongwe, Malawi. Private schools in Malawi charge fees and operate alongside the government system, and their pupils sit the same national examinations: the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) at the end of Standard 8 and the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) at the end of Form 4, both set by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB). Lilongwe has been Malawi's capital since 1975, when it replaced Zomba. It stands on a plateau in the Central Region, takes its name from the Lilongwe River, and had 989,318 residents at the 2018 census. The city is divided into 58 numbered Areas, and its growth, long concentrated around the Old Town and the City Centre, now extends southward and westward. The school has not published which classes it teaches, its fees or its admission arrangements online, so phoning ahead before a visit is advisable.
