Limbe Post Office

Limbe Post Office is a post office on Livingstone Avenue in Limbe, Blantyre, Malawi, run by Malawi Posts Corporation (MPC), the country's national postal operator. MPC was established as a statutory corporation in June 2000 under the Communications Act No. 41 of 1998, when the former Malawi Posts and Telecommunications Corporation was restructured. Its mandate is to provide postal and financial services and other services incidental to the transmission of postal articles, and it works under a licence from the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) that came into operation in 2003. The corporation runs 180 post offices across Malawi, and a further 154 postal agencies operate under the district assemblies. Its head office is in Blantyre. Among the mail services it lists nationally are ordinary mail, registered mail, the Express Mail Service and franking, and it also provides courier and financial services such as money transfers and bill payments. Limbe lies about 11 km east of central Blantyre. Founded in 1909, it was joined with Blantyre in 1956 and is the operational headquarters and workshop base of Malawi Railways. Much of the district's industry is sited there, and the area has long been a trading centre with a strong Asian Malawian and Yao presence. Malawi Posts Corporation has not published the counter services or telephone numbers of individual post offices online.
