Kirk Range Private School

Kirk Range Private School is a privately run school in Blantyre, Malawi. Malawi's school system has two main stages. Primary school runs from Standard 1 to Standard 8 and ends with the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE); secondary school runs from Form 1 to Form 4 and ends with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). Both examinations are set by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB). Tuition has been free in government primary schools since 1994, while private schools set their own fees. Private schools are a substantial part of the system. The Ministry of Education's Malawi Education Statistics Report 2023/24 counts 1,198 private primary schools out of 7,117, and 483 private secondary schools out of 1,916, with 119,423 pupils enrolled in private secondary schools. It grew from a Church of Scotland mission founded in 1876, takes its name from David Livingstone's birthplace in Scotland, and merged with neighbouring Limbe in 1956.
