Velucia Jewellery is a jewellery shop in Chamba House on Robinson Road, Gaborone, Botswana. It trades from Shop 1 in the building. Gaborone became the capital of Botswana at independence in 1966. It was planned and built from 1964 to replace Mafeking (now Mahikeng), in South Africa, from which the Bechuanaland Protectorate had been administered, and it is now the country's largest city and the seat of its government. Its original commercial centre is the Main Mall, a pedestrian precinct of shops, banks and offices, which has since been joined by the newer Central Business District. Botswana is one of the world's largest producers of diamonds by value. Most are mined at Jwaneng and Orapa by Debswana, a joint venture between the government and De Beers. The shop has not published its range, prices or commission arrangements online, so phoning ahead before travelling is advisable.
