American Swiss - Game City Gaborone

American Swiss Game City is a jewellery shop at Shop N19 in the Game City shopping centre, Gaborone, Botswana. It trades under American Swiss, a jewellery brand of the South African retail group TFG. TFG describes American Swiss as "Fine Jewellers since 1896", aimed at men and women of all age groups, and lists 228 American Swiss outlets within its TFG Africa segment. The brand's South African online store, on TFG's Bash platform, sells diamond and gold jewellery, engagement rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and watches. TFG Limited, formerly The Foschini Group, was founded in 1924 and is based in Cape Town. Listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, it has more than 3,000 stores in Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia. In Botswana it trades through Foschini (Botswana) (Pty) Ltd; a November 2020 decision of the Competition and Consumer Authority describes the group's Botswana business as covering clothing, jewellery, cell phones, accessories, cosmetics, sporting apparel and equipment, homeware and furniture in the country's larger urban centres. Its other brands include Totalsports, Sportscene, Markham, Foschini, Jet and @home. Gaborone is the capital and largest city of Botswana, with 246,325 residents at the 2022 census. It lies between Kgale Hill and Oodi Hill, near the confluence of the Notwane and Segoditshane rivers, within 15 kilometres of the South African border. Kgale Hill, nicknamed the Sleeping Giant, stands a few hundred metres from the city and reaches 1,287 metres above sea level. Stock and prices at the Game City shop have not been published online.
