JS Beef

JS Beef is a beef farm business near Lobatse, in south-eastern Botswana. Lobatse, about 70 km south of Gaborone on the A1 and close to the South African border, has long been the centre of Botswana's beef trade. It is home to the Botswana Meat Commission's abattoir, one of the largest meat-processing plants in Africa and for decades the country's main export abattoir. The town also has a division of the High Court, Sbrana Psychiatric Hospital and Lobatse Prison, and it had 29,772 residents at the 2022 census. Cattle hold a central place in Botswana's rural economy and culture, and beef has long been the country's principal agricultural export. Cattle destined for export are traced from farm to abattoir through the national Botswana Animal Identification and Traceability System (BAITS), a condition of access to the European Union market. Products, prices and trading arrangements have not been published online, and phoning ahead before travelling is advisable.
