Ufulu Finance

Ufulu Finance is a financial services business on Mandala Road in Lilongwe, Malawi. "Ufulu" is the Chichewa word for freedom. Where a Malawian business lends money to the public, it falls under the Microfinance Act, which recognises registered microcredit agencies and licensed microfinance institutions, the latter either deposit-taking or non-deposit-taking. The Reserve Bank of Malawi keeps the registers. Founded in 1964 and headquartered in Lilongwe, it is the country's central bank and the only body permitted to issue the Malawian kwacha. Lilongwe has been Malawi's capital since 1975, when it replaced Zomba, and is the country's largest city, with 989,318 residents at the 2018 census. The city has a New City of government offices, embassies and hotels and an Old Town of markets, bus stations and restaurants, and it is divided into numbered Areas assigned in the order in which they were developed.
