Royal Tiles

Royal Tiles is a tile shop in Area 4 of Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. Lilongwe City is made up of numbered Areas, from 1 to 58, which were assigned in the order they were developed rather than by position, and the Area number is the usual way of giving an address or directions in the city. Area 4 is one of the areas designated for commercial use. Lilongwe began around 1902 as a boma set up by a local leader, Njewa, became a colonial administrative centre in 1904 and was recognised as a town in 1947. It replaced Zomba as the national capital in 1975, although the last government offices did not move until 2005. The 2018 census counted 989,318 residents, up from 674,448 in 2008, making it the country's largest city. The shop has not published its opening hours, product ranges or prices online, so it is worth phoning ahead before travelling.
