Old Mutual Mzuzu Office

Old Mutual Mzuzu Office is the Mzuzu branch of Old Mutual Malawi, part of the Old Mutual financial services group, at Lunthu Arcade on Orton Chirwa Avenue in Mzuzu, Malawi. Old Mutual Malawi's contact page names the Mzuzu office alongside its offices in the Old Mutual Buildings on Glyn Jones Road in Blantyre and on Robert Mugabe Crescent in Lilongwe's City Centre. The company's customer service charter gives the same Mzuzu address, with the postal address PO Box 266, Mzuzu. Old Mutual was founded in Cape Town in 1845 as a mutual insurer by John Fairbairn and several other prominent Cape Town figures. It demutualised in 1999 and listed on the London, Johannesburg, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Namibian stock exchanges. Under the group's "managed separation" in June 2018, Old Mutual plc was delisted and Old Mutual Limited took its place on those exchanges, including the Malawi Stock Exchange. Mzuzu is the capital of Malawi's Northern Region and the country's third-largest city, with 221,272 residents at the 2018 census. It was developed from 1947 around the Commonwealth Development Corporation's tung oil estate and became a city in 1985. It lies in a gap in the Viphya Mountains on the M1 road, is home to Mzuzu University, established in 1999, and is the commercial centre for a region that grows tea, rubber and coffee.
