NBS Bank City Centre

NBS Bank City Centre is a branch of NBS Bank plc, a Malawian commercial bank, in the City Centre area of Lilongwe, Malawi. In Lilongwe, NBS Bank's own list of service points names service centres called Lilongwe, Capital City and Kanengo. NBS Bank plc is listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange. Its predecessor, the New Building Society, was formed by merging the Central African Building Society, the Commonwealth Century Building Society and the First Building Society, and was incorporated on 7 February 1964. The bank was incorporated as a limited company on 14 March 2003, registered under the Banking Act 1989 on 1 March 2004 and began commercial banking on 1 July 2004. NICO Holdings plc holds 50.10 per cent of its shares and the Public Service Pension Fund 12.06 per cent, with 24.89 per cent in public hands. The bank reports 26 service centres across Malawi, supported by Eazybank ATMs and by mobile, agency and SMS banking, and serves individuals, small and medium businesses, large corporations and public institutions. Euromoney named it Best Bank in Malawi in 2018 and again in 2020. Its head office is in Blantyre. Lilongwe has been Malawi's capital since 1975, when it replaced Zomba, and had 989,318 residents at the 2018 census. The City Centre is the newer part of the city, where hotels, embassies, government institutions and offices are concentrated; the Capital Hill government complex lies in Area 20.
