Mtalimanja Holdings Limited is a rice-milling company in Nkhotakota District, on the shore of Lake Malawi in the country's Central Region. The company belongs to the Malawian businessman and philanthropist Napoleon Dzombe, who has invested through it in large-scale rice-milling machinery. Dzombe also owns Madalitso Food Production and a sugar business, founded Blessing Hospital, and was a leading figure in relief efforts during Malawi's 2001–2002 drought. His work was the subject of the 2005 short film A Warm Heart. Nkhotakota town is one of the main ports on Lake Malawi. In the 19th century it was a group of villages that served as a market for Swahili-Arab slave traders, and it was there, under a tree, that David Livingstone persuaded Chief Jumbe to stop trading in slaves. Most people in the area are smallholder farmers growing rice, cassava and maize. The district covers 4,259 square kilometres and includes the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, where elephants can be seen. The company has not published a telephone number, email address, website or visiting arrangements online.
