Ministry of Education Central East Division

The Central East Education Division (CEED) is one of the six education divisions of Malawi's Ministry of Education, with its office in Kasungu, in the Central Region. The Ministry describes its role as coordinating "education services and implementation support in the Central East region" and gives its location as "Central Region (East)". The six divisions are the Northern, Central East, Central West, South East, South West and Shire Highlands Education Divisions. The Ministry's Education Management Information System lists secondary schools under CEED, among them Salima Secondary School and Demera Community Day Secondary School in Salima District. A Malawi News Agency report datelined Kasungu, 17 May 2025, described the division's awards for the best-performing teachers and students of the 2024 academic year, held in Kasungu District. The day began with a procession from the CEED headquarters to Chankhanga Community Day Secondary School. Kasungu is a town in Kasungu District, about 130 km north-west of Lilongwe, with 58,653 residents at the 2018 census. Tobacco growing is its main industry, Kasungu National Park lies about 35 km to the west, and a farm near the town was the birthplace of Hastings Banda, Malawi's first president.
