Maneno Bookshop is a bookshop in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. Lilongwe lies in the Central Region on the Lilongwe River, after which it is named, and on the M1, the main road running the length of the country. It became the capital in 1975, replacing Zomba, although the last government offices did not move there until 2005, and it is now the country's largest city, with 989,318 residents at the 2018 census. The city has two main parts. The New City holds the government ministries and embassies, while the Old Town is the older commercial centre, with street and walled markets, bus stations, cafes and restaurants.
