Claim Bookshop is a bookshop in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, in the country's Central Region. Lilongwe has been Malawi's capital since 1975, when the seat of government moved from Zomba, and it had 989,318 residents at the 2018 census. The city takes its name from the Lilongwe River, which runs through it, and lies on the central plateau, some 310 km by road from Blantyre along the M1. The city is divided into numbered Areas. Old Town, the original settlement, holds the main markets, bus depots and much of the city's retail trade, while the newer City Centre around Capital Hill holds government ministries, embassies, hotels and offices.
