MANEB Lilongwe Office

MANEB Lilongwe Office is the Central Region office of the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), in Area 3, Lilongwe, Malawi. MANEB's website places it within the premises of the MCDE offices in Area 3. The office is one of three places where the Board accepts applications to replace lost certificates, alongside the headquarters off Malemia Road in Zomba, next to the Old Parliament Building, and the Mzuzu office at Luwinga; MANEB directs applicants from the Central Region to Lilongwe. According to the Board, applicants must hand in the documents in person, since applications made through a third person are rejected, and must supply a police report, a national identity card, a reference letter from the school where the certificate was obtained and a reference from a well-known person. The published processing fee is MK52,500 at the normal rate and MK80,000 at the express rate. Processing takes at least two weeks, and the new certificate is collected, on production of identification, from the office where the application was made. MANEB was established under the Malawi National Examinations Board Act (Chapter 30:04 of the Laws of Malawi), which came into force on 1 August 1969. The Act makes the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malawi chairman of the Board and charges it with conducting examinations, awarding certificates and diplomas, recommending syllabuses for secondary schools and advising the government on testing and educational development. The Board sets Malawi's national school examinations. Primary schooling runs from Standard 1 to Standard 8 and ends with the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE); secondary schooling runs from Form 1 to Form 4 and ends with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
