Hilltop Private School

Hilltop Private School is a privately run school in Mzuzu, in the Mzimba District of Malawi's Northern Region. Its postal address is Private Bag 41, Mzuzu. Malawi's school system has two main stages. Primary education runs from Standard 1 to Standard 8 and ends with the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE); secondary education runs from Form 1 to Form 4 and ends with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). Both examinations are set by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB). Tuition has been free in government primary schools since 1994, while private schools charge fees. Mzuzu is the capital of the Northern Region and Malawi's third-largest city, with 221,272 residents at the 2018 census. It grew up around a tung-oil estate set up by the Commonwealth Development Corporation in 1947 and was granted city status in 1985. It is home to Mzuzu University, founded in 1999, and to Mzuzu Central Hospital, one of the country's four central hospitals.
