About

Dwambazi CDSS is a community day secondary school at Dwambazi, in the north of Nkhotakota District in Malawi's Central Region. Dwambazi also has a full primary school and a hospital. The Malawi Electoral Commission's 2025 register of centres lists Dwambazi F.P. School as a polling centre in the Nkhotakota District Council section, and the Ministry of Health's facility registry records Dwambazi Rural Hospital in the same district. Community day secondary schools grew out of the former distance-education centres, which were converted in 1998. As day schools they do not board pupils. Like other secondary schools in Malawi, they teach Form 1 to Form 4, ending with the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE), set by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB). Pupils enter Form 1 after completing Standard 1 to Standard 8 of primary school and sitting the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE), also set by MANEB. Dwambazi lies roughly 80 kilometres north-north-west of Nkhotakota town, and the Dwambazi River is one of the large rivers that cross the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve. The district runs along the western shore of Lake Malawi. Its capital, Nkhotakota, grew from nineteenth-century villages into a market for Swahili-Arab slave traders, and David Livingstone persuaded Chief Jumbe to end the trade there, under a tree that still stands at a mission in the town. The school has not published its enrolment, fees, term dates or contact details online, so it is worth asking locally before travelling.
