BANJA LA MTSOGOLO (BLM) - Zomba Clinic

Banja La Mtsogolo (BLM) Zomba Clinic is a clinic in Zomba, Malawi, run by Banja La Mtsogolo, a non-governmental provider of sexual and reproductive health services. The Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority's register of dispensing licences records licence PMPB/DL/330, issued on 11 December 2009 to Zomba BLM Clinic, Private Bag 27, Zomba, which permits the clinic to dispense medicines. Malawi's Ministry of Health facility registry lists it as Zomba BLM, facility code ZA231508, a registered clinic under non-government ownership; the same record, last updated in April 2026, gives its operational status as non-functional. Banja La Mtsogolo was established in 1987 and is the Malawi programme of MSI Reproductive Choices, the international organisation formerly known as Marie Stopes International. MSI says BLM delivers care across 28 districts and provides 65% of Malawi's contraceptive services. Across BLM's network, MSI lists: - short-acting and long-acting reversible contraception, and permanent methods - post-abortion care - maternal and child health services - cervical cancer screening and preventive treatment - testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV Zomba lies at the foot of the Zomba Plateau, about 75 km north of Blantyre. It was Malawi's capital until 1975, and Parliament sat there until 1994. The city had 105,013 residents at the 2018 census and is home to Chancellor College of the University of Malawi.
