Woolworths Food Kgale View

Woolworths Food Kgale View is a food store of the South African retailer Woolworths at Kgale Hill Mall, on the New Lobatse Road in Gaborone, Botswana. Woolworths belongs to Woolworths Holdings Limited, a Cape Town-based group listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. The first Woolworths store opened in Cape Town in 1931, founded by Max Sonnenberg. The business sells groceries, clothing, homeware, cosmetics and financial services, and it is unrelated to the Australian Woolworths supermarket chain. In June 2014 Woolworths Holdings said that Woolworths had traded in Botswana for more than 26 years and had 22 stores in the country selling food and clothing, and that it was changing its Botswana business from franchised to company-run stores. Kgale Hill, which gives the mall its name, rises to 1,287 metres on the edge of Gaborone and is nicknamed "the Sleeping Giant". Three trails lead to the summit, usually about an hour's climb, and troops of baboons are often seen on the way. The hill hosts the King of the Hill, a 15-kilometre race, and was a filming location for the television series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.
