Tlokweng Main Kgotla is the principal kgotla of Tlokweng, a large village in the South-East District of Botswana, and the traditional seat of the Batlokwa. A kgotla is the public meeting place, community council and customary court of a Tswana village. It is usually headed by the village kgosi (chief) or a headman, and the word itself comes from the Setswana for "court". Kgotla meetings are known for allowing everyone to speak in turn without interruption and for reaching decisions by consensus. The term also covers the ground where meetings are held, which can range from a few chairs under a shade canopy to a permanent enclosure with covered seating. In a large village the main kgotla is the seat of the senior traditional leader, with ward kgotlas beneath it. Tlokweng lies immediately east of Gaborone, on the other side of the Notwane River, and is generally treated as part of the capital's built-up area; it had 35,982 residents at the 2011 census. It is the home of the Batlokwa, who left the Magaliesberg ranges to settle in the area around 1880. The capital itself is named after their chief, Kgosi Gaborone, whose home village this was. The road through Tlokweng leads to the Tlokweng border crossing into South Africa. No telephone number, meeting schedule or customary court sitting times have been published online, so enquiries are best made in person at the kgotla.
