Tlokweng Education Centre is an education centre in Tlokweng, a village in the South-East District of Botswana, just east of Gaborone. Tlokweng is the home of the Batlokwa. It lies across the river from Gaborone, on the road to the Tlokweng border post with South Africa, about 15 km to the east, and it combines a traditional, unplanned core with newer planned areas. Its population was 35,982 at the 2011 census. The village appears in Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency novels, in which Mr J.L.B. Matekoni runs Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors. The Government of Botswana's list of junior secondary schools includes two in the village, Tlokweng Community Junior Secondary School and Matlala Community Junior Secondary School. The centre has not published what it teaches, its fees or its admission arrangements online; phoning ahead before travelling is advisable.
