Serowe BPC Depot is a depot of the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC), the state-owned electricity utility, in Serowe, in Botswana's Central District. BPC was formed in 1970, after Parliament passed the Botswana Power Corporation Act, and is responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Botswana, where it is the only supplier. Its headquarters are at Motlakase House, Macheng Way, Gaborone. The corporation runs the coal-fired Morupule A (132 MW) and Morupule B (600 MW) power stations, relies on imports from neighbouring countries to meet the rest of demand, and represents Botswana in the Southern African Power Pool. Serowe was founded in 1902 as the capital of the Bamangwato people and is the birthplace of Seretse Khama, Botswana's first president. It had 47,447 residents at the 2011 census. BPC has not published a telephone number, opening hours or the services offered at the depot, so anyone hoping to pay a bill or arrange a connection there should check with BPC before travelling.
