Rob Jackson Veterinary Services

Rob Jackson Veterinary Services is a veterinary practice in Maun, the administrative centre of Botswana's North-West District, also known as Ngamiland. Veterinary work in Ngamiland extends beyond household pets. The district is cattle country, and livestock farming there is shaped by Botswana's foot-and-mouth disease control zones: veterinary cordon fences separate cattle areas from wildlife areas, and the government's Department of Veterinary Services controls the movement of animals and animal products between zones. Maun was founded in 1915 as the tribal capital of the Batawana and had 85,293 residents at the 2022 census. It lies on the Thamalakane River at the south-eastern edge of the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014, and is the main supply and air-charter base for the safari lodges of the delta and Moremi Game Reserve. The practice has not published its services, fees or any after-hours arrangements online, so phoning ahead before travelling is advisable, particularly with an urgent case.
