OK Furniture Kanye

OK Furniture Kanye is a furniture store on Main Road in Kanye, Southern District, Botswana, trading under the OK Furniture name. OK Furniture is a furniture, appliance and home-entertainment retail brand of South African origin. The brand's own history traces it to OK Bazaars, opened in Johannesburg in 1927 by Michael Miller and Sam Cohen; the OK Group was sold to Shoprite Checkers in 1997. The brand's website lists more than 300 OK Furniture stores in South Africa, alongside a sister format, OK Power Express, established in 2000 to sell home entertainment, mobile phones and appliances. Kanye is a village 83 km south-west of Gaborone and the administrative centre of Southern District. With 48,028 residents at the 2022 census it is among the ten largest villages in Botswana. It is the traditional capital of the Bangwaketse, who settled in the area in the 1790s, and is described as the longest continuously occupied tribal capital in the country. The A10 road links it directly to Gaborone, and the A2 highway passes through the village. Pharing Gorge, a deep natural gorge within the village, is said to have sheltered villagers during the Mfecane wars, and Kgwakgwe Hill, the most prominent hill in Kanye, is known for its manganese deposits.
