Mwiya Law

Mwiya Law is a law firm in the Central Business District of Gaborone, Botswana. Its offices are at Morojwa Mews on Western Commercial Road, in Unit 7 on the third floor. Legal practice in Botswana is regulated through the Law Society of Botswana, which was established under the Legal Practitioners Act of 1996. All legal practitioners in the country are required to be members of the Society and to hold a practising certificate, which expires at the end of each year. The Society publishes a list of law firms and a database of active members on its website, and advises the public to check that database before engaging a lawyer. The Central Business District is Gaborone's newer commercial district and is still being built out; it holds the headquarters of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Industrial Court, office towers and the Square Mall. The older Main Mall and the Government Enclave remain what most residents mean by downtown. Gaborone has been Botswana's capital since independence in 1966 and had 246,325 people at the 2022 census, about a tenth of the national population. The firm's areas of practice, attorneys and fees have not been published online.
