Maun Fire Station is a fire station in Maun, the administrative centre of Botswana's North-West District, also known as Ngamiland. In an emergency anywhere in Botswana, the national number for the fire service is 998. The police number is 999 and the ambulance number is 997, and 112 can be dialled from mobile phones. Maun was founded in 1915 as the tribal capital of the Batawana and is spread along the wide banks of the Thamalakane River. Often called Botswana's tourism capital, it is the base for many of the safari and air-charter operators that run trips into the Okavango Delta, and it is served by Maun International Airport. The town had 85,293 residents in 2022. The North-West District covers about 129,930 square kilometres, taking in the Okavango Delta and the Moremi Game Reserve, and had 196,574 people at the 2022 census. It is administered by a District Commissioner appointed by the national government, alongside the elected North-West District Council.
