Botswana Daily News, the government news service, reported that the P10-million clinic is named after the late grandmother of the ZCC's leader, Bishop Barnabas Lekganyane, and that it was officially opened on 28 May 2017 by the then Vice-President, Mokgweetsi Masisi. According to the report, the clinic has 21 rooms, including: - consultation, injection, counselling and observation rooms - a dispensary and a pharmacy - laundry rooms - a child welfare facility At the opening, the then Minister of Health and Wellness, Dorcas Makgato, called the church's gesture "a good example of public private partnership". In May 2022 ZCC Kganya Botswana donated an ambulance to the clinic; the Ministry of Health's deputy permanent secretary said it would serve Mmopane as well as the Greater Gaborone District Health Management Team. The Zion Christian Church was founded by Engenas Lekganyane in the early twentieth century and has its headquarters at Zion City Moria in Limpopo, South Africa. South Africa's 2001 census counted nearly five million ZCC members. Migrant workers from Botswana began founding ZCC congregations in the late 1930s. Mmopane has grown quickly as part of the Gaborone agglomeration: its population rose from 3,512 at the 2001 census to 14,655 in 2011. It forms part of the Mmopane-Metsimotlhabe constituency for elections to the National Assembly. Opening hours and a telephone number for the clinic have not been published online.
