Impala Forestry is a park on the eastern side of Francistown, in north-eastern Botswana, several kilometres east of the city centre at the plus code RHPQ+C82. Francistown is Botswana's second-largest city, with 103,417 inhabitants at the 2022 census and 147,122 in its wider metropolitan area. It stands at the confluence of the Tati and Ntshe rivers, about 400 km north-north-east of Gaborone and 90 km from the border with Zimbabwe. The city grew out of Southern Africa's first gold rush, which followed the discovery of gold along the Tati River in 1867, fifteen years before the boom on the Witwatersrand. The settlement was founded in 1897 near the Monarch mine and named after Daniel Francis, an English prospector from Liverpool. Who manages the site, whether it is open to the public and at what times have not been published, so it is worth asking locally before visiting.
