Choppies Moshupa is a branch of the Choppies supermarket chain in Moshupa, a village in Botswana's Southern District. Across its supermarkets, Choppies lists its departments as fresh produce, bakery, groceries, butchery, takeaways and financial services. It also runs an online supermarket, eChoppies, which it offers at selected locations only. Choppies Enterprises was founded in Lobatse in 1986 by the Chopdat family, whose first store was Wayside Supermarket, and is headquartered in Gaborone. It listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange in 2012 and gained a secondary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 2015. In 2020 it closed its stores in South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya and Tanzania, and by 2024 it had 161 stores in four countries. Moshupa lies west of Gaborone and north of Kanye, the Southern District capital. Its people, the Bakgatla-ba-ga Mmanaana, came to the area from the Transvaal in South Africa during the eighteenth century. The village is known for its large rock outcrops and balanced boulders, which local belief holds will fall when the village chief dies. Choppies has not published a telephone number for the Moshupa branch, or which of its departments and services operate there.
