Capri Exclusive Homeware

Capri Exclusive Homeware is a homeware store in Gaborone, Botswana, part of the South African homeware group of the same name. Capri was founded in 1966 in Randburg, Johannesburg, by Gert Brits and Willah Brits (Marais); Willah chose the name after the couple visited the Italian island of Capri. In 1981 the business moved into one of the first 800 m² buildings in Strijdompark, Randburg, and between 1987 and 1991 Gert Brits opened four further companies: T&G Exclusive Creations, Hollywood Household Supplies, VIP Imports and Ciskei Household Supplies. Gert Brits died in December 2007 and the company passed to his children. Capri opened a company in Botswana in 2009. In 2013 the businesses were merged into a single company, Capri Exclusive Homeware, which also opened in Namibia that year, and in 2020 Qume Eksteen and her two sons bought the company from Gert Brits's other children. The company says it has over 200 people representing it. Gaborone has been the capital of Botswana since independence in 1966 and is the country's largest city and main commercial centre. Product ranges, prices and trading hours for the Gaborone store have not been published online, and phoning ahead before travelling is advisable.
