BPC Maun Substation is an electricity substation of the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) in Maun, in Botswana's North-West District. BPC's own tender notices identify it as the Maun 132/11kV substation: the corporation invited tenders for the detailed engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning of an additional 20 MVA 132/11kV transformer and all associated works there. A substation of this rating takes power from the 132 kV transmission network and steps it down to 11 kV for local distribution lines. BPC was established in 1970 under the Botswana Power Corporation Act and is owned by the Government of Botswana. It is the country's only electricity supplier, responsible for generation, transmission and distribution; it operates the Morupule A and Morupule B coal-fired power stations, imports electricity from neighbouring countries, and represents Botswana in the Southern African Power Pool. Its head office is Motlakase House on Macheng Way, Gaborone. Maun was founded in 1915 as the tribal capital of the Batawana, who moved there from Toteng, and is the administrative centre of Ngamiland. It lies on the Thamalakane River and had 85,293 residents at the 2022 census. Through Maun International Airport it is the main base for visitors travelling to the Okavango Delta and the Makgadikgadi Pans. BPC has not published any public services or visiting arrangements for the substation.
